We’re delighted to announce that the 2014 Monash University Undergraduate Prize for Creative Writing is now open for submissions from undergraduate and honours students studying at any university in Australia or New Zealand. Now in its third year, the Prize is a significant literary award for new and emerging writers. The top prize is $4000.
This is the first year that the Prize is open to students from New Zealand, giving the Prize a new international scope. It is also the first time that we have opened entries to Honours students. The Emerging Writers’ Festival is excited to discover the best creative writing students from both countries.
The judges for the 2014 Prize include Meg Mundell, Melbourne-based author of Black Glass, Dr Felix Nobis, lecturer at Monash University and Robert Watkins, Commissioning Editor at Hachette Australia.
The winners of the Prize will be announced on the opening night of the 2014 Emerging Writers’ Festival on Thursday 27 May at The Deakin Edge in Federation Square, Melbourne.
Submission is via the Emerging Writers’ Festival website.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please find attached a flyer (PDF) with more information on the Prize. The festival has physical copies of the flyer which we would greatly appreciate you distributing on our behalf. Please advise if you’d like us to send you some.
It would be fantastic if you could pass on this opportunity to your students.
